Camping and traveling with kids can be a lot of fun! It's important to make these experiences enjoyable for the whole family. Here are 10 awesome activities that you can do while camping or traveling with children. These activities will help you get the most out of your time spent outdoors and provide more memorable moments for your kids!

  1. Bring water balloons to throw at each other. This is also great when you travel to places like the beach where the temperature is hotter.

  2. Play I Spy. Who remembers playing this as a child when traveling with your parents? It also works great trying to find a specific type of vehicle on the road.

  3. Play the letter game. This is great for kids that are still learning, and it's really great to help with our memory. You start with A - I'm going camping, and I'm bringing, then you choose something starting with the letter A. You could even do specific topics like animals, food, etc. The next person repeats your thing and then adds something that starts with B. You continue until you just can't remember them all, or you get all the way to Z!

  4. Tell campfire stories while you cook hot dogs and marshmallows.

  5. Play camping games. What about a scavenger hunt with items that are available at the campsite?

  6. Watch for shooting stars in the sky and make wishes, or find constellations like Orion's Belt. This is also great to do before bed!

  7. Look for different shapes in nature such as trees, mountains, creeks - this is great for younger children still learning their shapes.

  8. Collect pine cones, leaves, flowers, and acorns to make natural decorations or crafts back home. These can turn into great scrapbook pages of your trips.

  9. Play hopscotch. Create a hopscotch grid in the dirt at the campground or on the beach. It's a great way to work out some of their energy.

  10. Play Simon Says. This is a fun activity that also teaches hand-eye coordination and how to follow rules.

The most important thing about camping is to be present in the moment. Be patient with the little ones, give them some grace if they get bored. It's about spending time together and creating memories. Remember to take breaks and keep snacks handy. STAY HYDRATED!

Do things that work well with your kid's personality and age. Hopefully, you'll create traditions that they will pass on to their kids when they are camping.

Happy camping!
